The first step of the custom signage process is the consultation. We talk about your goals for the sign, design, branding considerations and the location to place your sign. In the end, you will receive a quotation with the scope of work and if necessary, a mockup of the new sign installed at your preferred location.

After you accept the proof, production of your sign will begin. If your sign requires a permit to be approved by your municipality, then we will first submit applications and drawings to obtain the necessary permits.

What materials can I use to build my sign?

How long does it take to make a sign?

Again the answer is it depends vastly. It can depend on availability of materials, complexity of manufacture, permitting process, and amount of back and forth between you and our designers. It is important when we are making a sign, to set expectations in the beginning. That means we have to know your timeline and work backwards from that to determine how we can meet it.

Can you maintain our business identity through signage?

What is a “proof”?

How much does a sign cost?

Aren’t all sign companies pretty much the same?

We don’t think so. Just as all plumbers aren’t the same, all sign companies are not the same. In our experience, each successful sign business has a niche or market that they either fell into by accident or by purposefully pursuing. There may appear to be lots of sign businesses, but once you get to know them, most are simply only printing or graphics shops. These shops don’t have the necessary expertise, machinery or simply inclination to become full fledged sign manufacturers. Some might take advantage of the general lack of knowledge about signs of the average consumer. You will find that any number of sign shops will sell you a sign, without understanding what makes a good, durable sign and what it is meant to do for you.

What information is needed up front to get started on my sign project?

Some basic things are required in order to get your sign job moving. The location of where you want to install the sign for us to assess. Also an idea of the type of sign you want is a good start. You can bring some pictures of signs that you think are attractive. If you have a logo or other art assets, we’ll need them in a vector drawing format so our designers can scale them properly. You can also provide other details like bylaws, limitations of the landlord, etc.

How big of a sign am I allowed?

So that depends on where you want the sign installed and your location. New sign projects facing the public will have size limitations and must follow sign bylaws and requirements as set forth by your municipality. Do I need to laminate my sign?

It helps to laminate your printed sign because it protects the ink from fading. There are also other considerations like it makes it easier to clean your sign without damaging or scratching the ink. For these reasons we always recommend laminating your printed signs. However, if your vinyl already comes coloured, then it is not necessary to laminate it.
